After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?
First of all…
Happy wedding for Mrs & Mr Alice Clayton... yay!
I'm very excited that finally can read this newest book, the first one of Hudson Valley new series, Nuts...
Yeah, the title a little bit... nuts... but the story... absolutely sweet... ;-)
It's about a professional private chef, who's been wanted to be away from home since school and now should coming back because her mom & aunty got auditioned for Amazing Race, so mean they have to travel around the world...
That's why Roxie needs to be around to take care their family dinner (?)
Unfortunately, at almost the same time, Roxie is suddenly has no job to do because the unsatisfied customers. Roxie who at first really determined that she will not stay longer than the summer, or the maximum time her mother will going away, becomes really confused and questioning her own decision to leave again...
And what the reason of her 'confusion' would be? It's none other than the handsome, the most eligible bachelor in the town. Although, because of her pass, Roxie is really don't want to get involve with someone because it will be messy, hurtful and emotional draining... It seems that she can't resist their attraction. Even as from the beginning, she said all of their "activities" only last for the summer, Roxie couldn't help of wanting more with Leo.
Even though, I found Roxie and Leo are cute being together. IMO, their chemistry is a little bit off for me. Maybe because Roxie from the beginning is limiting her feeling and never wanted to explore more.
And Leo, in my opinion, also a little bit distance. Really.
They also, except the little time together, seem very busy with their own business. Roxie with the dinner and cake orders, while Leo with his farm.
Maybe, it's also because Roxie's point of view, which's delivering the story. Just like I thought previously, she hasn't really explored her feeling toward Leo, hence, we also can't catch many of Leo's feeling to her (through her point of view), except of the obvious.
I love the ending and more on the epilogue. It's Leo's point of view, that's where I can get full picture of their future family together.
What I also love about the story, is about the dreams and the effort to live it. I love how Leo builds his farm and I love how Roxie does her favourite things all the time.
I gave it 4 out of 5 stars...
I've read most of Ms. Alice's books... I guess there're just 2 books that I haven't read... the last book from the Cocktails series and also the last book from the Redheads series... they're a bit pricey.. hahaha... just waiting for the bargain kindle, if available... :d
Actually, a number of Ms. Alice's books already got translated to Bahasa Indonesia... Haven't read any though, because... for romance books, they better served original... Considering that translated books, I guess Ms. Alice also already gain many fans here in Indonesia, so why don't you visit us? Have a romantic honey moon in Bali, perhaps? :D
